Preservation Architect (Contract)
As a Preservation Architect, you will be responsible for preserving and restoring historic buildings and structures. Your main duty will be to ensure that these structures are maintained in their original state while also making necessary repairs and renovations to keep them safe and functional for future generations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough assessments of historic buildings and structures to identify any damage or deterioration
- Develop preservation plans that adhere to historical guidelines and regulations
- Collaborate with construction teams to oversee restoration projects, including monitoring progress and ensuring quality workmanship
- Utilize specialized techniques and materials to repair or replace original features of historic buildings
- Prepare accurate cost estimates and manage project budgets
- Coordinate with local authorities, preservation organizations, and other stakeholders to obtain necessary approvals and permits for restoration projects
- Conduct research on historical architecture styles, materials, and techniques for use in restoration projects
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Architecture or a related field
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working as a Preservation Architect
- Strong understanding of historical preservation guidelines and regulations
- Proficiency in AutoCAD or other architectural design software
- Excellent project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
