Junior Database Administrator


We are currently hiring for a Junior Database Administrator to join our growing team in Funchal. As a Junior Database Administrator, you will be responsible for managing and maintaining our company's databases, ensuring their performance, availability, and security.

Responsibilities:
- Install and configure database software
- Monitor database performance and troubleshoot any issues that arise
- Backup and restore databases as needed
- Implement security measures to protect sensitive data
- Collaborate with other IT teams to ensure smooth integration of databases with other systems
- Generate reports and analyze data to identify potential areas for improvement
- Stay up-to-date with emerging database technologies and trends

Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
- Strong understanding of database concepts and SQL language
- Familiarity with database management systems such as MySQL, Oracle, or Microsoft SQL Server
- Knowledge of data backup, recovery, security, and performance monitoring techniques
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with cloud-based databases such as Amazon RDS or Microsoft Azure SQL Database
- Knowledge of scripting languages like Python or Bash
- Understanding of data warehousing concepts
