Preservation Architect
A preservation architect is responsible for ensuring the protection and conservation of historical buildings and structures. They work to preserve the integrity of these structures while incorporating necessary updates and renovations. As a preservation architect, you will work closely with clients, government agencies, and other professionals to develop plans and strategies for the preservation of historical sites. You will also oversee construction projects and ensure that all work is completed in accordance with preservation standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough assessments of historical buildings and structures to determine necessary preservation measures
- Develop detailed preservation plans that balance the need for modern updates with maintaining the historical integrity of the site
- Collaborate with clients, government agencies, and other professionals to secure necessary approvals and permits for preservation projects
- Oversee construction projects, ensuring that all work adheres to preservation standards
- Monitor progress of preservation projects and make adjustments as needed
- Conduct research on historical sites to inform preservation efforts
- Maintain accurate records and documentation related to all preservation projects
Requirements:
- Degree in architecture or a related field
- Experience working on historic preservation projects preferred but not required
- Strong understanding of architectural history, styles, and techniques
- Knowledge of local building codes, regulations, and historic preservation laws
- Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with clients, stakeholders, and team members
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail
- Proficient in AutoCAD or other design software
Location:
This position is based in Funchal, Portugal. While Portuguese nationality is preferred, candidates from other countries are welcome to apply.
Salary:
The salary for this position is 1100$ per month.
