Job Title: Library Assistant


We are a prestigious library located in the charming city of Funchal, seeking a dedicated and organized Library Assistant to join our team. As a Library Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the daily operations of our library and providing exceptional customer service to our patrons.

Responsibilities:
- Assist with circulation duties including checking books in and out, processing holds, and shelving materials
- Provide assistance to patrons by answering questions, locating materials, and issuing library cards
- Assist with maintaining the organization and cleanliness of the library shelves and work areas
- Help with cataloging new materials and updating records in the library system
- Aid in collection development by recommending new materials for purchase
- Plan and execute engaging programs and events for all ages to promote literacy and community engagement
- Assist with managing interlibrary loan requests from other libraries
- Conduct basic reference interviews to determine patron needs and provide appropriate resources or referrals

Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Library Science or related field preferred (will consider candidates without experience)
- Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to interact professionally with diverse groups of people
- Knowledge of library systems and procedures is a plus
- Proficient computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed

Salary: $1600/month (negotiable based on experience)
