Preservation Architect
We are currently seeking a Preservation Architect to join our team in Faro, Portugal. As a Preservation Architect, you will be responsible for preserving and restoring historic buildings and structures, ensuring their structural integrity and cultural significance. Your work will involve collaborating with other architects, engineers, and conservation specialists to develop and implement plans for the preservation of these valuable assets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conducting research on historic buildings and structures to understand their architectural style, materials used, and overall condition
- Assessing the structural stability of historic buildings and determining necessary repairs or restoration work
- Developing preservation plans that adhere to local building codes and regulations while maintaining the cultural significance of the structure
- Collaborating with other architects, engineers, contractors, and conservation specialists to ensure the successful execution of preservation projects
- Preparing detailed drawings, specifications, and cost estimates for preservation work
- Overseeing construction work to ensure it is carried out according to plans and specifications
- Conducting regular site visits to monitor progress and quality of work
- Coordinating with local authorities for necessary permits and approvals
- Providing expertise on preservation techniques and materials during project planning stages
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Architecture or a related field
- Minimum of 3 years experience in historic preservation projects
- Strong knowledge of architectural history, materials, techniques, and conservation principles
- Experience working with local building codes and regulations related to historic preservation
- Proficiency in AutoCAD or similar design software
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Salary:
The salary for this position is 1600$ per month.
Location:
This is a contract job based in Faro, Portugal. Accommodation will not be provided. Candidates must have their own visa or be eligible for visa sponsorship.
