Head Chef (Faro, Portugal)
We are seeking a talented and experienced Head Chef to join our team at a busy and well-established restaurant in Faro, Portugal. As the Head Chef, you will be responsible for overseeing the kitchen operations, creating menus, managing inventory and food costs, and ensuring high-quality dishes are consistently served to our customers.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee all aspects of the kitchen operations including food preparation, cooking, plating, and presentation.
- Create and update menus according to seasonality and customer preferences.
- Manage inventory levels and maintain accurate records of stock levels.
- Control food costs by minimizing waste and utilizing ingredients effectively.
- Train and supervise kitchen staff to ensure quality standards are met.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations in the kitchen.
- Collaborate with restaurant management to develop new ideas for menu items or special events.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Head Chef or Executive Chef in a high-volume restaurant.
- In-depth knowledge of various cooking methods, ingredients, and flavor profiles.
- Ability to create innovative menus while also maintaining traditional dishes.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and train kitchen staff.
- Attention to detail with excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Qualifications:
- Culinary degree or equivalent experience as a professional chef.
- Food safety certification is preferred.
- Fluent in English (Portuguese language skills are a plus).
