Executive Pastry Chef
As an Executive Pastry Chef, you will be responsible for overseeing the pastry department of our prestigious hotel in Faro. Your passion for creating delectable desserts and pastries will be showcased through your leadership skills and attention to detail. You will work closely with the Executive Chef to develop new menu items, manage inventory and costs, and maintain high standards of food quality and presentation. Your creativity and knowledge of different baking techniques will be essential in delivering a memorable dining experience for our guests.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee all aspects of the pastry department, including budgeting, ordering supplies, and managing staff
- Develop new dessert and pastry menus in collaboration with the Executive Chef
- Ensure that all pastry items are prepared to the highest standards of taste, texture, and presentation
- Train and mentor pastry cooks on proper techniques and procedures
- Maintain an organized and efficient kitchen environment, adhering to all health and safety regulations
- Monitor inventory levels and control costs by minimizing waste
- Collaborate with other chefs to ensure a seamless flow of food production across all departments
- Stay updated on current food trends and incorporate them into menu development
- Handle guest inquiries or concerns regarding pastry offerings
Requirements:
- Proven experience as an Executive Pastry Chef or similar role in a high-end establishment
- In-depth knowledge of baking techniques, ingredients, equipment, and hygiene standards
- Ability to lead a team effectively with strong communication skills
- Creativity in developing new dishes while also maintaining classic favorites
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Proficient in English (Portuguese language skills are a plus)
