Database Administrator (DBA)


The Database Administrator (DBA) will be responsible for maintaining and optimizing the performance, integrity, and security of our company database systems. They will work closely with our IT team to ensure that data is properly stored, backed up, and accessible to users. The ideal candidate should have strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to troubleshoot and solve problems quickly. This position is located in Almada, Portugal with a salary of 1300$ per month. Accommodation and visa sponsorship will be provided.

Responsibilities:
- Design and implement database systems and structures
- Monitor database performance and tune for optimal efficiency
- Ensure data security and integrity through regular backups and disaster recovery plans
- Collaborate with IT team on database maintenance, upgrades, and migrations
- Troubleshoot any issues related to databases or data access
- Provide user support for database-related inquiries or problems
- Develop scripts for automating tasks such as data imports/exports or backups

Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field
- Proven experience as a Database Administrator or similar role
- Strong knowledge of database management systems (MySQL, SQL Server)
- Familiarity with database design principles and query optimization techniques
- Experience with Linux/Unix operating systems
- Ability to analyze complex problems and implement solutions quickly
- Excellent communication skills in English (Portuguese is a plus)
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment

Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification in Database Administration (e.g. Oracle Certified Professional)
- Knowledge of cloud-based databases (AWS RDS)
- Familiarity with NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Cassandra)

Note: This position is open to all nationalities; however, preference will be given to candidates who are already authorized to work in Portugal without visa sponsorship.
