Debt Collection Officer
As a Debt Collection Officer, you will be responsible for contacting individuals and businesses to collect outstanding debts. This role requires strong communication skills, as well as persistence and the ability to handle difficult situations. You will be based in Mombasa and will work with a diverse range of clients, including Indian and Canadian nationals.
Responsibilities:
- Contact individuals and businesses by phone, email, or in person to collect overdue payments
- Negotiate payment plans and settlements with debtors
- Record all communication and updates in the company's database
- Analyze credit reports and financial statements to assess credit risk
- Communicate effectively with team members and clients regarding collection efforts
- Comply with all relevant laws and regulations, including Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA)
- Maintain accurate records of all collections activities
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent; some college education preferred
- Fluency in English is preferred, but not required for this position
- Previous experience in debt collection is not required; we welcome freshers to apply
- Strong negotiation and communication skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong time management skills and ability to prioritize tasks effectively
- Ability to handle difficult situations with tact and professionalism
- Proficiency in MS Office; experience using debt collection software is a plus
Salary: 1400$ per month
