Nepali Executive Chef
As a Nepali Executive Chef, you will be responsible for overseeing the preparation and presentation of traditional Nepali cuisine in our restaurant located in Malindi. Your role will involve creating authentic dishes that reflect the rich and diverse flavors of Nepal while also ensuring high quality and consistency. You will lead a team of kitchen staff, including cooks and assistants, to ensure smooth operations and maintain hygiene standards.
To excel in this role, you should have a minimum of 5 years experience as a chef with specialized knowledge in Nepali cuisine. A degree or diploma in culinary arts or relevant field is preferred. You must have strong leadership skills to effectively manage your team and communicate with other departments such as front-of-house staff. Good time management and organizational skills are also essential to meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks at once.
Responsibilities:
- Create traditional Nepali menus that are both authentic and innovative
- Oversee the preparation, cooking, and presentation of dishes according to restaurant standards
- Train and supervise kitchen staff on proper food handling techniques, hygiene standards, and recipe execution
- Manage inventory levels to minimize waste and control costs
- Collaborate with purchasing department to source high-quality ingredients while staying within budget
- Maintain kitchen cleanliness and sanitation procedures at all times
- Ensure compliance with health codes and regulations
- Develop new recipes or modify existing ones based on customer feedback or seasonal availability of ingredients
Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years experience as a chef specializing in Nepali cuisine
- Degree or diploma in culinary arts or relevant field preferred
- Strong leadership skills with ability to manage a team effectively
- Excellent understanding of traditional Nepali cooking techniques, ingredients, spices, etc.
- Ability to create innovative dishes while staying true to the essence of Nepali cuisine
- Good time management and organizational skills
- Knowledge of food safety regulations
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
