Head Chef - African Cuisine
Our restaurant in Nakuru is seeking a talented and experienced Head Chef specializing in African cuisine. As the Head Chef, you will be responsible for creating and executing unique and delicious dishes that showcase the rich flavors of African cuisine. This is a full-time position with a salary of $1100 per month.
Responsibilities:
- Create menus that feature authentic African dishes, utilizing local ingredients and traditional cooking techniques
- Manage inventory and ordering of ingredients to ensure freshness and quality
- Train and supervise kitchen staff, ensuring they follow proper sanitation and food safety guidelines
- Oversee food preparation, plating, and presentation to maintain high standards
- Maintain a clean and organized kitchen, following all health codes
- Collaborate with management to develop new menu items and specials
- Monitor food costs and implement cost-saving measures while maintaining quality
Requirements:
- Minimum of 5 years experience as a Chef focused on African cuisine
- Knowledge of traditional African cooking techniques and ingredients
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to train and motivate kitchen staff
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Strong understanding of food safety regulations
- Creative mindset with the ability to develop unique dishes while still meeting customer preferences
- High school diploma or equivalent; culinary degree preferred
