Freelance Interpreter for Canadian Events (Akron)


We are seeking a professional freelance interpreter to join our team and provide interpretation services for various Canadian events in Akron. As an interpreter, you will be responsible for accurately translating verbal communication from English to French and vice versa. This is a part-time position that does not require any previous experience or English proficiency.

Key Responsibilities:
- Provide simultaneous interpretation during Canadian events such as conferences, meetings, and seminars
- Accurately convey the meaning and tone of the speaker's words while maintaining cultural sensitivity
- Act as a bridge between English-speaking and French-speaking attendees to ensure effective communication
- Research and familiarize yourself with terminology related to the specific event topics
- Prepare for each event by studying materials and taking notes in advance
- Collaborate with event organizers to ensure smooth communication flow during the event

Requirements:
- Native or near-native proficiency in both English and French languages
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Strong knowledge of Canadian culture, customs, and current events
- Ability to multitask, work under pressure, and maintain focus during long events
- Availability to work on a part-time basis with flexible hours (evenings and weekends)
- No previous experience required
