Database Administrator (Funchal, Portugal)



A leading technology company in Funchal is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Database Administrator to join our team. As the Database Administrator, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining our company's databases. This is a contract position with a competitive salary of 1600$ per month.

Key Responsibilities:
- Design, implement and maintain efficient database structures to support company operations
- Monitor database performance and make necessary adjustments to ensure optimal performance
- Identify and troubleshoot database issues in a timely manner
- Develop and implement data backup and recovery plans
- Collaborate with application developers to ensure data integrity and security
- Create user access permissions and maintain user accounts
- Develop and maintain documentation for all database processes and procedures

Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
- Minimum of 3 years experience as a Database Administrator or similar role
- Strong knowledge of SQL databases (MySQL, Oracle, etc.)
- Experience with database design, development, maintenance, and performance tuning
- Experience with data backup/recovery techniques
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to identify root causes of issues quickly
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
- Strong communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of biometric passport systems is a plus
- Familiarity with cloud-based databases (AWS, Azure) is an advantage
