Head Pastry Chef
We are in search of a skilled and creative Head Pastry Chef to join our team at a high-end restaurant in Faro, Portugal. As the Head Pastry Chef, you will be responsible for overseeing all pastry operations and ensuring the highest quality of desserts and baked goods are produced.
Responsibilities:
- Create and develop new dessert and pastry menu items that showcase your creativity and elevate the dining experience for our guests
- Manage inventory and ordering of all pastry ingredients while maintaining budgetary guidelines
- Train, mentor, and lead a team of pastry cooks to ensure consistent execution of all menu items
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness and organization in the pastry kitchen
- Collaborate with other chefs to develop cohesive menus that complement each other's dishes
- Stay updated on current food trends and techniques to continually improve our pastry offerings
- Ensure all health and safety regulations are followed in the kitchen
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Pastry Chef, preferably in a fine dining restaurant or hotel setting
- Strong background in creating unique desserts and baked goods with exceptional presentation skills
- Knowledge of various baking techniques, including bread making, chocolate work, sugar work, etc.
- Ability to manage a team effectively while maintaining a positive work environment
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to multitask and meet tight deadlines
- Good understanding of food cost control measures and inventory management
- Fluent in English (Portuguese is a plus)
