Head Pastry Chef
As the Head Pastry Chef, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the pastry kitchen at our high-end restaurant in Faro. This includes creating and developing new dessert menus, training and supervising junior pastry chefs, maintaining inventory and ordering supplies, and ensuring that all pastries are prepared to the highest standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and create new dessert menus that are innovative, visually appealing, and in line with current trends
- Train and supervise junior pastry chefs, providing guidance on techniques and ensuring consistent quality
- Maintain inventory levels and order supplies as needed to ensure smooth operation of the pastry kitchen
- Ensure that all pastries are prepared according to recipes and presentation standards set by the restaurant
- Keep up-to-date with industry trends, techniques, and ingredients to continually improve the pastry offerings
- Monitor food costs and maintain profitability by minimizing waste
- Work closely with other kitchen staff to coordinate dessert orders with main course preparation
- Oversee cleanliness and organization of the pastry kitchen to comply with health code regulations
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Pastry Chef or similar role in a high-end restaurant setting
- Excellent knowledge of various dessert preparation techniques, ingredients, and flavor combinations
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to train, motivate, and supervise junior staff
- Creative mindset with a passion for experimenting with new recipes and techniques
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage inventory levels efficiently
- Knowledge of health code regulations for food safety
- Fluent in English (Portuguese language skills preferred but not required)
Salary: $1200 per month (negotiable based on experience)
Location: Faro, Portugal (accommodation may be provided if needed)
