Part-Time Librarian

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Part-Time Librarian to join our team at the Braga Public Library. The ideal candidate should have a passion for books and knowledge, excellent communication and organizational skills, as well as a strong understanding of library management software.

Responsibilities:
- Assist patrons with reference and research inquiries
- Manage circulation desk including checking in/out materials, issuing library cards, and collecting fines
- Maintain the library's collection by shelving books, cataloging materials, and weeding out outdated or damaged items
- Plan and implement engaging programs and events for all age groups
- Collaborate with other librarians to develop new services and improve existing ones
- Keep up-to-date with current trends in literature and technology to provide recommendations to patrons

Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Library Science or related field
- Prior experience working in a library setting is preferred but not required
- Familiarity with library management systems such as Koha or Evergreen
- Strong customer service skills and ability to work with diverse populations
- Excellent communication skills in both English and Portuguese (additional languages are a plus)
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed

This is a part-time position with an hourly rate of $1100. As this is not a full-time role, no accommodation will be provided.
