Pastry Chef
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Pastry Chef to join our team at a fine dining restaurant in Nairobi. The ideal candidate will have a passion for creating delicious and visually appealing desserts, as well as a strong understanding of baking techniques and ingredients. This individual must also have excellent time management skills and the ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
Responsibilities:
- Create and design new dessert items for the restaurant's menu
- Prepare and bake a variety of pastries, breads, cakes, and other desserts
- Ensure all pastry items are consistently high quality and visually appealing
- Work closely with the kitchen team to coordinate dessert orders with main courses
- Maintain inventory of pastry supplies and ingredients
- Train and supervise junior pastry chefs
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Pastry Chef or similar role
- Excellent knowledge of baking techniques, ingredients, and flavors
- Creativity and ability to develop new dessert ideas
- Strong attention to detail and plating skills
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent time management skills
- Diploma or degree in culinary arts or relevant field is preferred
- Experience working in fine dining restaurants is an asset
Salary:
$1700 per month (negotiable based on experience)
