Network and Systems Administrator


As a Network and Systems Administrator, you will be responsible for managing and maintaining the network and computer systems of our company in Svalbard. Your main duties will include installing, configuring, and maintaining network equipment, troubleshooting network issues, and ensuring the security of our systems. You will also be responsible for managing user accounts, backups, and system updates. This position requires someone who is detail-oriented, able to work independently, and has excellent problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities:
- Install, configure, and maintain network equipment such as routers, switches, firewalls
- Troubleshoot network issues and provide timely resolution
- Monitor network performance to ensure optimal functionality
- Set up user accounts and permissions on systems
- Conduct regular backups of data to ensure data integrity
- Perform system updates and upgrades as needed
- Ensure the security of our systems by implementing necessary security measures
- Collaborate with other IT team members to resolve complex technical issues
- Maintain documentation of network configurations and procedures

Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field preferred
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a similar role
- Strong knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP), LAN/WAN configuration, and VPNs
- Experience with installing/configuring/maintaining network equipment (routers, switches)
- Familiarity with Microsoft Windows Server operating systems
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues independently
- Detail-oriented with strong organization skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities
- Good communication skills in English (additional languages are a plus)
