Surveying Assistant

As a Surveying Assistant, you will work alongside experienced surveyors to assist in the collection and analysis of data related to land, construction, and infrastructure projects in Svalbard. This is a contract position that does not require prior experience in the field, making it an ideal opportunity for individuals looking to gain hands-on experience in surveying.

Responsibilities:
- Assist with field surveys, including setting up and operating survey equipment
- Collect and record data using various methods such as GPS, total stations, and drones
- Perform basic calculations and analysis of collected data
- Help prepare reports, maps, and other documentation based on survey findings
- Maintain equipment and ensure its proper functioning
- Communicate effectively with team members to ensure smooth workflow

Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent education
- Basic knowledge of surveying principles and techniques is preferred but not required
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and terrain
- Physically fit and able to lift heavy equipment as needed
- Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately record data
- Strong communication skills in English (knowledge of Norwegian is a plus)
- Willingness to learn and work collaboratively with a team
