Pastry Chef
We are seeking a talented and experienced Pastry Chef to join our team at a fine dining restaurant in Bungoma. As a Pastry Chef, you will be responsible for creating and preparing delicious desserts and pastries for our menu. You will also be in charge of maintaining inventory and ordering supplies, as well as training and supervising other kitchen staff members.
Key Requirements:
- Minimum of 2 years experience as a Pastry Chef in a fine dining restaurant
- Culinary degree or equivalent certification preferred
- Strong creativity and passion for creating unique and high-quality pastry dishes
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
Responsibilities:
- Designing new pastry dishes to add to the menu based on seasonal ingredients
- Preparing high-quality desserts, cakes, pastries, and breads according to recipes and presentation standards
- Managing inventory levels of pastry ingredients and supplies, ordering more when needed
- Training new kitchen staff members on pastry techniques and standards
- Ensuring all food safety regulations are being followed by the pastry team
- Collaborating with other chefs to create cohesive menu offerings
- Maintaining a clean, organized work area
- Participating in special events or catering orders as needed
Salary: $1000 per month (negotiable based on experience)
Location: Bungoma, Kenya (open to foreigners with valid work permits)
