Welder

Our company is seeking a skilled Welder to join our team in Mombasa, Kenya. As a Welder, you will be responsible for using hand-welding or flame-cutting equipment to weld or join metal components or to fill holes, indentations, or seams of fabricated metal products. This role requires excellent technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings.

Responsibilities:
- Read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings to determine the layout of welding work
- Set up components for welding according to specifications (e.g. cut material with powered saws)
- Align components using calipers, rulers etc. and clamp pieces
- Weld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions (vertical, horizontal or overhead)
- Repair machinery and other components by welding pieces and filling gaps
- Test and inspect welded surfaces for defects and ensure conformance with specifications
- Operate heavy machinery such as forklifts and cranes to move materials as needed
- Maintain equipment in good condition by performing regular maintenance tasks

Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Welder (experience with TIG/MIG welding is preferred)
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings
- Knowledge of various welding techniques including MIG/TIG/ARC welding
- Familiarity with shop tools such as grinders, drills etc.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Physical stamina and strength to lift heavy materials and work in various positions for long periods of time
- Attention to detail with a focus on quality workmanship
- High school diploma or equivalent certification in Welding from a vocational school is preferred

Salary: $1000 per month
