Librarian vacancy in Al-Khor Qatar

Librarian

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Librarian to join our team in Al-Khor, Qatar. The ideal candidate will have a degree in Library Science and at least 2 years of experience working in a library setting. The main responsibility of this job is to manage the library's collection, assist patrons with research and reference inquiries, and oversee the daily operations of the library. This position requires strong communication and customer service skills as well as proficiency in cataloging and classifying materials. The successful candidate will also have knowledge of current library technologies and be able to adapt to new systems and procedures. This is a contract job with a salary of 900$ per month.

Responsibilities:
- Manage the library's collection by selecting, acquiring, organizing, and maintaining materials
- Assist patrons with research and reference inquiries
- Oversee circulation activities including checking out/in materials, collecting fines, and managing overdue items
- Maintain accurate records of library transactions and prepare reports as needed
- Catalog new materials using standard classification systems
- Train and supervise support staff, volunteers, or student workers
- Develop programs and activities to promote the use of the library by the community
- Stay current on emerging trends in librarianship and implement new technologies or services as needed

Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Library Science or related field
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working in a library setting preferred
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Customer service oriented with the ability to assist patrons from diverse backgrounds
- Proficiency in cataloging using standard classification systems such as Dewey Decimal or Library of Congress
- Familiarity with current library technologies including online databases and digital resources
- Ability to adapt to new systems and procedures quickly
