Preservation Architect for Historic Buildings
A Preservation Architect is responsible for the preservation, restoration, and rehabilitation of historic buildings and structures. They work to ensure that these historic landmarks are maintained and preserved for future generations to appreciate and enjoy. This role requires a deep understanding of architectural history, construction techniques, and materials used in historic buildings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough assessments of historic buildings to identify necessary preservation work
- Develop detailed plans for preservation, restoration, or rehabilitation projects
- Collaborate with engineers, contractors, and other professionals to execute preservation projects
- Ensure compliance with local building codes and regulations during preservation work
- Conduct research on the history and architecture of each building to inform the preservation process
- Provide expertise on preserving historical details and features of buildings
- Monitor progress of preservation projects and make adjustments as needed
- Create reports documenting the preservation process and any changes made to the building
- Maintain accurate records of all work done on each historic building
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Architecture or related field
- Minimum 3 years of experience working on historic preservation projects
- Extensive knowledge of architectural history, materials, and construction techniques used in historic buildings
- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify potential issues with historic structures
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate with various professionals involved in the project
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously within given timelines
- Familiarity with local building codes and regulations related to historic structures
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Historic Preservation or related field
- Experience working with government agencies or organizations focused on preserving historical landmarks
- Familiarity with software programs such as AutoCAD or Revit
This position offers a competitive salary of $900 per week. The location for this role is Los Angeles but remote work may be possible. This job is open to all nationalities but preference will be given to candidates who have experience working on historic preservation projects in the United States.
