Head Chef - Portuguese Cuisine



We are seeking an experienced Head Chef to lead our kitchen team and oversee the preparation of traditional Portuguese dishes in our restaurant located in the vibrant city of Lisbon. As a Head Chef, you will be responsible for creating and executing menus, managing inventory and food costs, and maintaining high standards of food quality and presentation.

Responsibilities:
- Create and execute menus that showcase traditional Portuguese cuisine while also incorporating modern techniques and flavors
- Oversee all aspects of kitchen operations including food preparation, cooking, plating, and cleanliness
- Train and manage a team of cooks, ensuring they adhere to recipes, portion sizes, and food safety standards
- Monitor inventory levels and place orders as needed to maintain stock levels while controlling food costs
- Collaborate with the management team to develop new menu items and specials
- Ensure all food is prepared to high-quality standards and presented in an attractive manner
- Manage kitchen schedules to ensure adequate staff coverage during peak times
- Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment according to health department regulations

Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Head Chef or Sous Chef in a busy restaurant setting
- Extensive knowledge of traditional Portuguese cuisine with the ability to create innovative dishes that appeal to a modern palate
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to train and motivate a team
- In-depth understanding of kitchen operations including inventory management, budgeting, and costing
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- High attention to detail with a focus on maintaining quality standards
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while remaining calm under pressure
- Fluent in English (Portuguese proficiency is preferred)

Salary:
