Reference Librarian


We are in need of a highly qualified and experienced Reference Librarian to join our team at our library in Karachi. As a Reference Librarian, you will be responsible for providing reference and research assistance to library patrons, managing and organizing the reference collection, and staying up-to-date with current information resources.

Key Responsibilities:
- Provide reference and research assistance to library patrons in person, over the phone, and via email
- Help patrons navigate the library catalog and online databases to find relevant materials
- Manage and organize the reference collection including selecting materials, weeding outdated items, and maintaining accurate records
- Stay informed about current information resources in various subject areas and make recommendations for collection development
- Develop and conduct informational workshops or classes for library patrons on research strategies and information literacy skills
- Collaborate with other librarians to plan and implement effective services for library users

Requirements:
- Master's degree in Library Science (MLS) or equivalent from an ALA-accredited institution
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Reference Librarian in an academic or public library setting
- Strong knowledge of traditional reference sources as well as electronic databases and resources
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to provide quality customer service to diverse populations
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment

Salary:
This position offers a competitive salary of 1300$ per month.

Location:
This position is based in Karachi, Pakistan.

Preference will be given to candidates who can provide accommodation.
