Librarian

The Salalah Public Library is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Librarian to join our team. As a Librarian, you will be responsible for managing the library's collection, providing reference services to library patrons, and promoting literacy and learning within the community.

Key Responsibilities:

- Curate and manage the library's collection of books, magazines, newspapers, and other materials
- Catalogue and organize materials using appropriate classification systems
- Assist patrons in locating and accessing materials, providing reference services as needed
- Create engaging displays and programs to promote literacy and encourage community involvement in the library
- Plan and conduct educational workshops for library patrons on various topics such as research skills, digital resources, and information literacy
- Collaborate with local schools, universities, and community organizations to develop partnerships and promote library resources
- Keep accurate records of circulation statistics, patron inquiries, and program attendance
- Train and supervise library assistants and volunteers
- Stay informed about current trends in librarianship, technology, and literature through professional development opportunities

Requirements:

- Bachelor's degree in Library Science or a related field
- Knowledge of cataloguing systems such as Dewey Decimal Classification or Library of Congress Classification
- Excellent communication skills in English (Arabic proficiency is a plus)
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to assist diverse populations
- Passion for promoting literacy and lifelong learning in the community
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with a team
- Attention to detail with strong organizational skills

Salary: $1600 per month

Location: Salalah, Oman
