Job Title: Preservation Architect - Svalbard
As a Preservation Architect in Svalbard, you will play a critical role in ensuring the preservation and restoration of historical buildings in this unique and remote location. Your expertise in architectural conservation and knowledge of local building materials and techniques will be key to the success of this role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough assessments of historical structures to determine necessary repairs or restoration work
- Develop detailed preservation plans and strategies, taking into account the unique challenges of working in a remote Arctic environment
- Collaborate with local contractors and craftsmen to ensure adherence to conservation principles and techniques
- Source appropriate materials for restoration work, considering availability, sustainability, and historical accuracy
- Monitor the progress of restoration projects to ensure quality and timely completion
- Document all preservation work for future reference and research purposes
Requirements:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture with a specialization in architectural conservation
- Minimum of 5 years experience working as a Preservation Architect on historical buildings
- In-depth knowledge of international standards for architectural conservation and preservation
- Familiarity with local building materials, techniques, and regulations in Svalbard preferred
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with various stakeholders including contractors, government agencies, and community members
Salary:
We offer a competitive salary package of 1100$ per month. Additional benefits may be provided based on experience and qualifications.
