Contract Librarian - Os, Japan


Our library in Os, Japan is seeking a contract librarian to join our team. As a librarian, you will be responsible for managing and organizing our collection of books and other materials, assisting library patrons with research and reference inquiries, and overseeing the day-to-day operations of the library.

Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Library Science or related field
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working in a library setting
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
- Proficiency in Japanese language preferred but not required

Responsibilities:
- Manage and maintain the library's collection of books, magazines, newspapers, and other materials
- Assist patrons with research inquiries and provide reference services
- Oversee circulation desk operations including checking out materials, processing returns, and collecting fines/fees
- Create displays to promote new resources or highlight specific topics or themes
- Plan and conduct programs for children and adults such as story times, book clubs, or workshops
- Maintain accurate records of library usage statistics and prepare reports as needed
- Train new staff members on library procedures and policies
- Stay up-to-date with current trends in librarianship through professional development opportunities

This is a contract position with a salary of $1400 per month. Applicants must have their own visa for working in Japan.
