Head Chef - Svalbard
We are searching for a highly skilled and experienced Head Chef to join our team in Svalbard. As the Head Chef, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the kitchen operations and ensuring the delivery of high-quality meals to our customers. This role requires a creative, organized, and passionate individual with excellent leadership and communication skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop menus that are innovative, diverse, and cater to the preferences of our customers
- Manage food inventory and ordering to ensure timely availability of ingredients
- Train and supervise kitchen staff on food preparation techniques, safety procedures, and sanitation standards
- Monitor food quality, presentation, and portion sizes to maintain consistency in all dishes served
- Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment at all times
- Collaborate with management on budgeting, cost control measures, and special events planning
- Keep up-to-date with culinary trends and incorporate them into menu development
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Head Chef or Executive Chef in a high-volume restaurant or hotel setting
- Extensive knowledge of different cooking methods, ingredients, kitchen equipment, and safety standards
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate team members
- Excellent communication skills to effectively train staff and collaborate with management
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high-quality standards
- Creativity in developing new dishes while also maintaining traditional favorites
- Flexibility in working hours including weekends, evenings, and holidays
- Valid food handler's certification
Salary: $1700 per month
Location: Svalbard (Preference for Scandinavian nationals)
