Mason - Contract Position in Os, Nigeria



We are seeking a skilled and experienced Mason to join our construction team on a contract basis in Os, Nigeria. As a Mason, you will be responsible for laying bricks and stones to construct walls and other structures according to blueprints and specifications. This is a great opportunity for someone with experience or training in masonry to gain valuable work experience and contribute to the development of the local community.

Responsibilities:
- Read and interpret blueprints and specifications to determine layout of structures
- Measure and mark cutting lines on materials
- Mix mortar or grout according to standard formulas
- Lay bricks, concrete blocks, stone or other types of masonry units in rows or patterns
- Smooth or finish freshly poured cement or concrete using floats, trowels, screeds or powered cement finishing tools
- Remove excess mortar with trowels and hand tools
- Repair, maintain, and alter existing structures such as walls, floors, ceilings, and roofs
- Use hand tools such as levels, trowels, hammers, chisels, jointers, and rulers
- Operate machinery including forklifts and scaffolding equipment

Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Mason or completion of an apprenticeship program preferred
- Ability to read blueprints and follow instructions accurately
- Knowledge of building codes and safety regulations
- Physical stamina to perform strenuous tasks including lifting heavy materials and standing for extended periods of time
- Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity
- Attention to detail with strong problem-solving skills

Salary: $1000 per month
