Insurance Claims Adjuster
An insurance claims adjuster is responsible for investigating and evaluating insurance claims to determine the extent of coverage and compensation for policyholders. They are also responsible for negotiating settlements with claimants and ensuring that all necessary documentation is gathered and processed in a timely manner.
Key Responsibilities:
- Investigate insurance claims by gathering information from various sources, such as witnesses, policyholders, and medical records.
- Evaluate each claim to determine its validity and extent of coverage according to the insurance policy.
- Negotiate settlements with claimants to reach a fair and agreeable resolution.
- Review and analyze policy coverage, limits, deductibles, and exclusions to determine appropriate compensation.
- Communicate with attorneys, doctors, and other professionals to obtain necessary information for claims processing.
- Prepare detailed reports documenting the investigation process and findings.
- Keep track of claim status and provide updates to policyholders on a regular basis.
- Conduct on-site inspections of damaged property or vehicles as needed.
- Collaborate with other adjusters or experts in complex cases.
- Stay current with industry trends, regulations, and best practices through ongoing training.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in finance, business administration or related field preferred.
- Previous experience in an insurance claims adjusting role is highly desirable.
- Strong communication skills both written and verbal.
- Excellent negotiation skills with the ability to handle difficult situations calmly.
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
Location:
This position is based in Mombasa but may require occasional travel within the country.
Salary:
Starting salary for this role is $1500 per month.
Contract:
This is a full-time contract position.
Visa Sponsorship:
Visa sponsorship will be provided for non-Kenyan candidates if required.
