Librarian for English Speaking Library in Eldoret, Kenya



Our library in Eldoret is seeking a qualified and experienced Librarian to join our team. As a Librarian, you will be responsible for managing our library's collection and providing assistance to library patrons. This position is open to Malayalees with excellent English language skills.

Responsibilities:
- Organize and maintain the library's collection of books, magazines, and other materials
- Assist patrons in finding and accessing materials
- Provide reference services and answer questions from patrons
- Develop programs and activities to promote reading and literacy among the community
- Manage the library's budget and make purchasing decisions for new materials
- Train and supervise library staff
- Maintain records of library loans, returns, and fines
- Keep up-to-date with new technologies and implement them in the library as needed

Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Library Science or a related field
- Minimum of 2 years experience working as a Librarian in an English speaking library setting
- Excellent communication skills in both English and Malayalam languages
- Knowledge of cataloguing systems, databases, and other library technologies
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
- Ability to work well with diverse groups of people from different backgrounds

This is a full-time position with a salary of $1700 per month. The successful candidate must have their own valid visa for working in Kenya. Part-time employment may also be considered for the right candidate.
