Sous Chef
We are hiring a talented and experienced Sous Chef to join our team at a high-end restaurant in the beautiful city of Porto. As a Sous Chef, you will be responsible for assisting the Head Chef in managing the kitchen and ensuring the smooth operation of all food preparation and cooking activities. You must have a passion for creating innovative dishes using fresh, local ingredients and have a strong understanding of culinary techniques and flavor combinations.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the Head Chef in menu planning, recipe development, and food cost management
- Supervise and train kitchen staff on proper cooking techniques, sanitation guidelines, and safety procedures
- Ensure that all dishes are prepared according to established recipes, portion sizes, quality standards, and presentation guidelines
- Monitor inventory levels of food supplies and equipment, placing orders as needed
- Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment by following sanitation standards and cleaning schedules
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Sous Chef or similar role
- Knowledge of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and procedures
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to effectively manage a team
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Attention to detail and creativity in developing new dishes
- Ability to work well under pressure
Qualifications:
- Culinary degree or equivalent experience preferred
- Food Safety Certification required
- Fluent in English (Portuguese proficiency is an asset)
Salary: 1700$ per month.
