Reference Librarian



We are seeking a highly organized and knowledgeable Reference Librarian to join our team at the Porto Public Library. As a Reference Librarian, you will be responsible for assisting library patrons in finding and utilizing resources, conducting research, and providing information literacy instruction. This is a full-time position with a salary of $1800 per month.

Responsibilities:
- Provide reference services to library patrons in person, over the phone, and through online channels
- Assist patrons in locating and utilizing library resources including books, electronic databases, and other materials
- Conduct research for patrons on a variety of topics using print and electronic sources
- Teach information literacy skills to individuals and groups through workshops and one-on-one instruction sessions
- Develop and maintain subject-specific collections within the library's collection
- Plan and implement outreach activities to promote library services to the community
- Participate in collection development by selecting materials for purchase based on patron needs and interests
- Stay current with developments in librarianship through professional development opportunities

Requirements:
- Master's degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited program
- 2+ years of experience working as a librarian or in a related field
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to work with diverse populations of all ages
- Knowledge of reference resources including online databases and search engines
- Familiarity with library classification systems such as Dewey Decimal or Library of Congress Classification
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Proficiency in multiple languages is preferred
- Must be eligible to work in Porto without sponsorship
