Library Assistant (Malayalee Preferred) - Nairobi, Kenya


We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Library Assistant to join our team in Nairobi. As a Library Assistant, you will be responsible for assisting in the daily operations of the library, including cataloging and shelving books, helping patrons find materials, and maintaining the library's appearance. This position is open to Malayalees and offers a salary of 1500$ per month.

Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in cataloging and classifying new books according to the Dewey Decimal System
- Shelve books and maintain an organized and visually appealing library space
- Assist patrons with finding books, checking out materials, and answering questions
- Handle interlibrary loan requests and process returned items
- Help with inventory management and maintaining accurate records of library materials
- Provide basic computer support for patrons using library resources
- Perform routine maintenance tasks such as dusting shelves and cleaning equipment

Requirements:
- Malayalee nationality preferred
- Experience working in a library or similar environment
- Familiarity with library classification systems
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills
- Strong communication skills
- Basic computer knowledge
