Entry-Level Librarian



We are seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Entry-Level Librarian to join our team in Svalbard. As a librarian, you will play a vital role in organizing and managing our library collection, assisting patrons with research and reference inquiries, and promoting reading and literacy within the community.

Responsibilities:
- Organize and maintain library materials according to established systems
- Assist patrons with locating and checking out books, magazines, and other materials
- Answer reference questions and assist with research inquiries using print and electronic resources
- Plan and implement programs to promote reading and literacy, including story times for children
- Create displays to highlight new or relevant materials in the library
- Process new materials for circulation, including cataloging and labeling
- Maintain library equipment such as computers, printers, and scanners
- Keep accurate records of library usage, circulation statistics, and inventory levels
- Collaborate with other staff members on special projects or events

Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Library Science or related field (or currently pursuing)
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
- Customer service oriented with excellent communication skills
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Familiarity with library management systems is a plus
- Passion for books, reading, and promoting literacy

Salary: $1600 per month (negotiable based on experience)
Location: Svalbard (own visa required)
