Reference Librarian

The Reference Librarian will be responsible for providing reference and research assistance to library patrons, ensuring the proper organization and maintenance of library materials, and developing and promoting library services. The ideal candidate will have a Master's degree in Library Science or a related field, with a strong understanding of library principles and practices. They should also possess excellent communication and customer service skills, as well as the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

Responsibilities:
- Provide reference and research assistance to library patrons in person, via phone, and online
- Assist with the organization, cataloging, and maintenance of library materials
- Develop and promote library programs and services to meet the needs of the community
- Stay informed on current trends in librarianship to improve services offered
- Assist with collection development by selecting appropriate materials for purchase
- Participate in outreach activities to engage with potential patrons
- Collaborate with colleagues on projects or initiatives to enhance library services
- Maintain accurate records of patron interactions and statistics for reporting purposes

Requirements:
- Master's degree in Library Science or a related field
- Knowledge of library principles, practices, and technology
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to work well with diverse populations
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment
- Proficient in using online databases for research purposes
- Familiarity with collection development principles is preferred
- Ability to adapt to changing technologies and environments

Salary: $1300 per month (negotiable)
Location: Svalbard
