Pastry Chef
We are seeking a skilled and creative Pastry Chef to join our team in Nairobi. The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating and preparing a variety of desserts, pastries, and baked goods. They should have experience in working with different types of ingredients and techniques, as well as the ability to develop new recipes and menu items. The Pastry Chef must also be able to manage inventory, maintain food safety standards, and oversee a team of pastry cooks. A minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role is required, as well as a passion for creating delicious and visually appealing desserts. Knowledge of Indian cuisine is preferred but not required. This is a full-time position offering a salary of $1700 per month.
As a Pastry Chef, your responsibilities will include:
- Creating and preparing various desserts, pastries, and baked goods
- Developing new recipes and menu items
- Managing inventory and ordering necessary supplies
- Maintaining cleanliness and organization in the pastry kitchen
- Ensuring food safety standards are followed at all times
- Training and supervising pastry cooks
- Collaborating with other chefs to create cohesive menus
- Staying up-to-date on industry trends and techniques
Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a Pastry Chef or similar role
- Culinary degree or certification preferred but not required
- Knowledge of different ingredients, techniques, and flavor combinations
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work well under pressure
- Excellent time management skills
- Ability to lead and manage a team
- Passion for creating visually appealing desserts
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
