Library Assistant (Part-time) - Akron, OH, USA


We are seeking a part-time Library Assistant to join our team at the Akron Public Library. As a Library Assistant, you will be responsible for assisting with the day-to-day operations and maintenance of the library. This includes checking in and out books, shelving materials, organizing shelves, and providing excellent customer service to library patrons.

Key Responsibilities:

- Assist with circulation duties such as checking in and out books, issuing library cards, and collecting fines
- Help maintain the organization of library materials by shelving items in their proper location
- Provide excellent customer service by answering questions and directing patrons to resources
- Process hold requests and interlibrary loan materials
- Assist with maintaining the cleanliness and appearance of the library by dusting shelves and cleaning tables
- Participate in special projects as assigned by the librarian

Requirements:

- High school diploma or equivalent
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to work well independently as well as in a team setting
- Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs
- Basic computer skills
- Prior experience working in a library is preferred but not required

This is a part-time position with a starting salary of $1200 per month. Hours will vary but may include some evenings and weekends. This position does not require any previous experience or English proficiency. Accommodation is not provided for this role.
