Head Pastry Chef
The Head Pastry Chef will be responsible for overseeing the pastry department of our luxury resort in Malindi. This role requires a highly skilled and creative pastry chef with a minimum of 5 years experience in a similar position. The ideal candidate will have a passion for creating unique and delicious desserts and pastries, as well as strong leadership skills to manage the pastry team.
Responsibilities:
- Develop new and innovative dessert and pastry menus for all dining outlets
- Oversee the production and presentation of all desserts and pastries
- Train and mentor junior pastry chefs, ensuring high quality standards are maintained
- Manage inventory and order supplies as needed
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the pastry kitchen
- Collaborate with other departments to create special event menus
- Ensure compliance with food safety regulations at all times
Requirements:
- Minimum of 5 years experience as a Pastry Chef, with at least 2 years in a leadership role
- Culinary degree or equivalent certification preferred
- Extensive knowledge of various dessert and pastry techniques, including chocolate work, sugar work, baking, etc.
- Ability to create unique and visually appealing desserts that also taste delicious
- Strong leadership skills to effectively manage a team
- Excellent time management skills to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Understanding of food safety regulations and ability to maintain high standards of cleanliness in the kitchen
Salary: $1700 per month (negotiable based on experience)
