Preservation Architect
The Preservation Architect will be responsible for overseeing the preservation and restoration of historical buildings, structures, and sites. They will work closely with clients, engineers, and construction teams to develop plans for preserving and restoring these important landmarks. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of architectural history, building materials, and construction techniques. They should also have excellent project management skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct research on historical buildings and sites to understand their significance and historical context
- Develop preservation plans that adhere to local regulations and standards
- Collaborate with engineers, contractors, and other professionals to ensure the structural integrity of the building during restoration
- Monitor progress of restoration projects, making necessary adjustments as needed
- Prepare detailed reports and documentation on project status and findings
- Maintain accurate records of all preservation activities
- Ensure that all materials used in restoration are appropriate for historical accuracy
- Provide guidance to clients on proper maintenance techniques to preserve the integrity of the building/site
Requirements:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture or related field
- Proven experience in preservation architecture, preferably with historical buildings or sites
- Knowledge of building materials, construction techniques, and architectural history
- Strong project management skills with the ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse team of professionals
- Attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to travel as needed for site visits or meetings
