Library Assistant

The Library Assistant will be responsible for providing support to the Librarian in a busy public library in Al-Rayyan. They will assist with tasks such as organizing and shelving books, checking books in and out, and helping patrons find books and resources. The ideal candidate should have strong communication and customer service skills, as well as a passion for literature and education. This position is open to both locals and foreigners, with proficiency in English required. Previous library experience is not necessary but preferred. This is a part-time position with a starting salary of 1700$ per month.

As a Library Assistant, your responsibilities will include:

- Assisting the Librarian with various tasks such as organizing and shelving books, checking books in and out, and helping patrons find resources.
- Providing excellent customer service by answering questions and assisting patrons with their needs.
- Maintaining the organization of the library by ensuring that books are properly shelved and easily accessible.
- Assisting with routine library maintenance tasks such as cleaning shelves and rearranging displays.
- Helping with programming and events at the library, including storytime sessions for children.
- Providing recommendations to patrons based on their reading interests.
- Keeping accurate records of book circulation and inventory.

Qualifications:

- High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree in Library Science or related field preferred.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proficiency in English is required; knowledge of other languages is a plus.
- Passion for literature, education, and working with people of all ages.
- Good organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Flexibility to work evenings or weekends when needed.
