Reference Librarian

The Reference Librarian will be responsible for providing assistance and guidance to library patrons in their research and information needs. This includes assisting with reference inquiries, providing instruction on how to use library resources, and maintaining the library's collection of reference materials. The ideal candidate should have a strong knowledge of library systems and resources, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work well with diverse groups of people. This is a full-time position based in Nakuru, Kenya and is open to Indian nationals. Visa sponsorship is available for qualified candidates. Women are strongly encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities:
- Provide reference services to library patrons in person, over the phone, or via email
- Assist patrons with using library resources such as databases, catalogs, and online resources
- Develop instructional materials and programs to help patrons effectively utilize library resources
- Manage the library's collection of reference materials including selecting new materials and keeping them up-to-date
- Participate in planning and implementing outreach programs to promote the use of the library's resources
- Stay informed about new developments in the field of librarianship and incorporate them into daily tasks

Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Library Science or related field
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a reference librarian role
- Knowledge of various reference sources such as online databases, encyclopedias, dictionaries, etc.
- Excellent communication skills in English
- Strong customer service skills
- Ability to work well independently as well as part of a team
- Familiarity with library systems such as OPACs and ILS
- Experience working with diverse groups of people
- Visa sponsorship available for qualified candidates

Salary: $1600 per month
