Chef de Cuisine
Our busy restaurant in Eldoret is in need of a skilled and creative Chef de Cuisine to join our team. As a Chef de Cuisine, you will be responsible for overseeing the kitchen operations, developing and designing menu items, and ensuring high quality and consistent food preparation.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee all food preparation activities, including cooking, plating, and presentation
- Develop new menu items and update existing ones based on seasonal availability and customer feedback
- Ensure proper portion control and food cost management
- Train and supervise kitchen staff to maintain high standards of food quality and safety
- Maintain inventory levels, order supplies, and monitor kitchen equipment for proper functioning
- Collaborate with management to create special event menus or catering options
- Adhere to all sanitation, safety, and hygiene standards
- Keep up-to-date with industry trends and techniques
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Chef de Cuisine or similar role
- In-depth knowledge of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and procedures
- Creativity in developing new menu items while also maintaining classic dishes
- Ability to manage a fast-paced kitchen environment while maintaining quality standards
- Excellent communication skills to effectively train staff and collaborate with management
- Strong understanding of food cost control measures
- Culinary degree or equivalent experience preferred
Salary: $1100/month (negotiable based on experience)
