Sous Chef
We are seeking a talented and experienced Sous Chef to join our team at our upscale restaurant in Funchal. As a Sous Chef, you will work closely with the Head Chef to oversee all kitchen operations and ensure the highest quality of food is consistently delivered to our guests.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Head Chef to create and update menu offerings, taking into consideration seasonal ingredients and guest preferences
- Train and supervise kitchen staff, including cooks, prep cooks, and dishwashers
- Manage food inventory levels and order supplies as needed
- Monitor food quality and presentation to maintain high standards of taste and appearance
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations in the kitchen
- Assist with creating schedules for kitchen staff to ensure proper coverage during peak hours
Requirements:
- Minimum of 3 years experience as a Sous Chef in a fine dining or upscale restaurant setting
- Culinary degree or equivalent certification preferred
- Strong leadership skills and ability to effectively manage a team
- Excellent knowledge of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and procedures
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Must be able to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays
Salary: $1600 per month (negotiable based on experience)
Location: Funchal, Portugal (open to candidates from any nationality)
