Interpreter (English-Kenyan)

We are in need of an experienced English-Kenyan Interpreter to join our team in Triesen. In this role, you will be responsible for facilitating communication between English-speaking and Kenyan-speaking individuals. As an interpreter, you will play a crucial role in ensuring effective communication and understanding between parties who do not speak the same language.

Key Responsibilities:
- Provide accurate interpretation services from English to Kenyan and vice versa.
- Act as a cultural mediator, bridging any potential gaps in understanding or customs.
- Remain impartial and maintain confidentiality at all times.
- Prepare for each assignment by researching relevant topics and terminology.
- Take notes during meetings or conversations to ensure accurate interpretation.
- Adhere to all ethical and professional standards of interpreting.
- Utilize appropriate interpreting techniques based on the context, such as consecutive or simultaneous interpreting.
- Ensure that all interpretations are delivered with clarity and accuracy.

Requirements:
- Fluency in both English and Kenyan languages.
- Proven experience as an interpreter, preferably in a professional setting.
- Strong knowledge of cultural differences between English-speaking and Kenyan-speaking individuals.
- Excellent memory retention skills and ability to think quickly under pressure.
- Professional demeanor with strong communication skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends if needed.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Translation/Interpretation or related field.
- Certification from a recognized interpreting organization.
- Prior experience working with biometric passports is a plus.

We offer a competitive salary of $1400 per month for this part-time position, with the potential for full-time employment in the future. Accommodation can also be provided for non-local candidates if needed.
