Preservation Architect - Braga, Portugal
As a Preservation Architect in Braga, Portugal, you will play a crucial role in preserving and protecting historical buildings and sites. You will use your expertise in architecture, engineering, and historic preservation to ensure the conservation and restoration of these structures for future generations.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct research and assessments on historical buildings and sites to determine their significance and condition
- Develop plans for the preservation, restoration, or adaptive reuse of these structures while maintaining their historic integrity
- Collaborate with other professionals such as engineers, historians, and archaeologists to develop comprehensive preservation strategies
- Obtain necessary permits and approvals from local authorities for any proposed changes or renovations to historical buildings
- Oversee construction projects to ensure compliance with preservation guidelines and standards
- Monitor the ongoing condition of preserved structures and recommend maintenance or repair efforts as needed
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Architecture or related field
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in historic preservation or restoration projects
- Proficiency in AutoCAD or other architectural software
- Strong knowledge of local building codes, regulations, and historic preservation guidelines
- Excellent research skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with a team
