Junior Librarian

As a Junior Librarian, you will assist in the management and organization of library resources to provide efficient and effective services to library patrons. Your responsibilities will include assisting with circulation and reference services, cataloging and classifying materials, and participating in collection development. You will also be responsible for maintaining the physical space of the library, ensuring materials are properly shelved and displayed, and assisting patrons with locating materials. This position requires excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and a strong understanding of library systems and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

- Assist with circulation services including checking materials in/out, managing reserves, and collecting fines/fees.
- Provide reference services to patrons by answering questions, directing research, and recommending resources.
- Help catalog and classify materials using standard library systems such as Dewey Decimal or Library of Congress classification.
- Participate in collection development by suggesting new materials for acquisition based on patron needs and interests.
- Maintain the physical space of the library by shelving materials, organizing displays, and keeping areas clean.
- Assist patrons with locating materials in person or through online databases.
- Collaborate with senior librarians on projects related to programming, outreach, or special collections.
- Stay up-to-date on current trends in librarianship through professional development opportunities.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in Library Science or related field preferred.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
- Familiarity with standard library systems such as Dewey Decimal or Library of Congress classification.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Experience working in a library setting preferred.

Salary: 1500$ per month
