Database Administrator (Contract)

A fast-growing company in the technology industry is seeking a skilled and experienced Database Administrator to join our team on a contract basis. In this role, you will be responsible for managing and maintaining our company's databases, ensuring their performance, security, and availability. The ideal candidate has a strong background in database administration and is familiar with various database management systems. This is a contract position with the potential for extension.

Responsibilities:
- Design, implement and maintain databases according to business needs
- Monitor database performance and troubleshoot any issues that may arise
- Ensure data security by implementing backups, disaster recovery plans, and access controls
- Collaborate with developers to optimize database design for efficient data retrieval
- Perform regular maintenance tasks such as updates, patches, and upgrades
- Develop and maintain documentation of database processes and procedures

Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Database Administrator or in a similar role
- Proficiency in SQL and experience with multiple database management systems such as MySQL, Oracle, or MongoDB
- Familiarity with database backup solutions
- Experience in database performance tuning
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Preferred Requirements:
- Experience in cloud-based databases such as AWS or Azure
- Knowledge of programming languages such as Java or Python
- Certification in Database Administration

Working Conditions:
This is a contract position with flexible working hours. The candidate must have their own accommodation arrangements. Visa sponsorship may be provided for the right candidate.
