Librarian Assistant
As a Librarian Assistant, you will be responsible for assisting the librarian in managing and maintaining the library resources. You will help with organizing and categorizing books, checking in and out materials, and providing support to library patrons. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a passion for helping others.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the librarian in the daily operations of the library
- Check in and out materials for library patrons
- Organize and shelve books according to established systems
- Help patrons locate resources and answer reference questions
- Process new materials by labeling, cataloging, and adding them to the collection
- Maintain an accurate record of library inventory
- Handle book requests from other libraries through interlibrary loan system
- Assist with planning and implementing library events and programs
- Maintain a clean and organized library space
- Provide excellent customer service to all patrons
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent; Bachelorβs degree in Library Science preferred
- Previous experience working in a library setting is preferred but not required
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Knowledge of basic computer skills
- Physical ability to lift heavy boxes up to 25 pounds
